THE STORY OF THE WHITTIER MAYOR’S PRAYER BREAKFAST
The Whittier Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast is patterned after the National Prayer Breakfast held annually in Washington, D.C., and is designed as a time of prayer for our city, State and Nation, its leaders, and a time of rededication of individuals to God.
Jack Carmichael, owner of Battel’s Hardware, organized the first Whittier Prayer Breakfast in 1965. It has been held annually since Jack got the first group going.
